WHY DO SOME UNIVERSITY
STUDENTS OPT TO COMMIT
SUICIDE?
Our personalities may be
compliant, impulsive, depressive
or warm - inborn characters that
little can be done about them.
Nevertheless, our personality trait
may one day be our own stum-
bling block so that appropriate
psychological counseling is man-
dator y to avoid disasters.
Unfortunately, in practice, most
people are far too shy to admit
their need for such counseling -
until it is far too late. A contribu-
tory scenario arises from the
single-child family especially
when parents tend to spoil their
only child so much so that the
child has never learned how to
take care of himself. If the single
child also spends far too much
time on book learning in order to
pass university matriculation
examinations, there is no mean-
ingful social life and their inter-
personal skills are rudimentary.
Once they start their university
life, they have to be on their own:
away from their parents - they
then find it very difficult to cope.
Moreover, even when they are
stuck, they still do not know how
to communicate with their peers
in order to solve their psychologi-
cal deadlock. In time, a vicious
cycle sets in and, finally, they
believe there are no more viable
options except to commit
suicide...

目前,大學生自殺似乎已經成為了一種時尚而不是新
聞,越來越多的大學生選擇了這條不歸路來應對挫折。他們
雖然走了,可是對家庭、學校、社會所造成的影響卻不會隨
他們生命的消逝而消失。他們對生命的漠視更是深深刺痛著
人們的心,也引發了無數思考:是什麼原因導致這些天之嬌
子們都選擇以死解脫?他們那以生命的結束為特點的血的教
訓帶給我們的除了一聲歎息外還剩下甚麼呢?
個人原因
人的氣質類型分為粘液質、膽汁質、抑鬱質和多血質,這不
是我們所能夠決定的。我們以抑鬱質者和膽汁質者為例,這前者
天生便很多愁善感,敏感而多疑,通常情況下都是悶悶不樂的,
但一般不會採取自殺這類過激行為;後者情緒易波動,不冷靜,
做事容易走極端。
對心理健康知識的欠缺。很多學生認為心理上有疾病是可恥
的,有心理障礙的人往往被另眼相待。學校一般設有心理輔導室
或諮詢室,但很多學生因為害怕同學歧視的目光而不敢主動去找
大學生為何選擇自殺?
