PACIFIC ISLAND STATES
The South Pacific, the para-
dise of adventurers, boasts rich
natural resources; with good
food and hospitality; their mys-
terious traditions and cultures
offer an enjoyable vista. The in-
digenous people of this virgin
territory live a peaceful, meager
life without the fierce competition
and lavish style of our world. Al-
though the British Captain
Samuel Wallis first discovered
Tahiti, independently, French
navigator Louis-Antoine de
Bougainville also landed in
1768. Eventually, Tahiti became
part of the French Polynesian
with Papeete as the Capital.
Though living is costly, Tahiti is
the haven of tourists - away from
our hustle and bustle - "6 Days
and 7 Nights" starring Harrison
Ford was filmed here. In 1773,
Captain Cook named the archi-
pelago as Cook Islands, with the
Capital at Rarotonga - the larg-
est Island where Hula dance is
very popular. Bungee jumping
originated from Vanuatu, on the
Island of Petecost - the annual
fertility ritual "NGol" is observed:
slender liana vines attached to
ankles of young men / boys leap-
ing from a tree tower. Vanuatu
also has the world's first under-
water Post Office at Espiritu
Santo. Such Islands never lack
pleasant surprises!

物世界”之稱的巴布亞新幾內亞，有以寶藏無數的美麗瀉湖而聞名
的新喀里多尼亞，有因“甜密之島”而成為新人蜜月遊首選之地的
斐濟，還有世界著名的金槍魚產地──密克羅尼西亞聯邦⋯⋯。
太平洋島國上看到兩種人
在太平洋島國上，你可以看到兩種人：一種是當地的土著
人，在他們的眼中沒有金錢的貪慾，人們在酋長制度下和平相
處，在這裡你可以理解甚麼是真正的天人合一，在他們純樸的笑
