A Voiding Position Change to Prevent Disease and Cancer
The US National Agency for Toxic Substances found bladder cancer incidence rates was proportional to the bladder urine stasis
time. Daily intakes, especially of smokers, lead to urinary carcinogens in the bladder – with direct contact with the bladder
lining, bladder cancers may be induced eventually. Urine voided every 3 hours had higher concentrations of carcinogens than
that passed every hour, with higher risks of having bladder cancer. Drink more water to dilute the urine; even without any sense
of urge, voiding every hour or so may reduce risks of cancers, infections and stone formation. As the elderly has bladder atony
and prostate enlargement lengthening and narrowing the urethra, try a sitting position; by leaning forwards, abdominal pressure
increases, facilitating bowel movements; prevents “micturition syncope”: fainting and falling down from a standing position for
voiding large volumes, as blood pressure drops abruptly. In India, men’s urinating in a sitting position led to lower incidence
rates of bladder and colon cancers – an association endorsed by years of work by Prof Rane of James Cook University,
Australia, on the relevance of the urination position.
