AN EXPOSITION ON CHRONIC FATIGUE
The Author studied 11,980 subjects from our 10 Provinces: 81.36% had chronic fatigue of which 29.78% moderate; 2.15%,
severe: may progress to cerebro-vascular disease, cancer or depression. In the West, it is a "yuppies' flu" of "white-collars". (1)
Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS, 1%): low-grade fever, lymph nodes, pain and inflammation; treatment is symptomatic;
improvements by supplementing lots of B-complex or L-carnitine or even TCM herbs is reported (2) Physical fatigue: worse after
physical activities; take a rest, supplement nutrition & vitamins or TCM herbs; if required, rule out organic causes (3) Depressive
fatigue (20-30%): with depressive symptoms, typically tired even on waking up; identify the cause; treat the depression; avoid
being a "perfectionist"; be positive, relax and make friends; take TCM herbs or anti-depressants as required (4) Spiritual fatigue
(the majority): regulate work / relax schedules; yuppies to learn to say no to "rich & famous"; be philosophical; blurt out unhappy
events to your intimates: "every cloud has a silver lining"; have realistic goals; avoid "perfectionist" and "indispensable" notions.
Health is paramount!
