SHOULD WE BE
CONFUSED
BYTHE
NEWTERMS
''TOXIN
ELIMINATION'' OR "CALCIUM
SUPPLEMENT"?
Body metabolism
and
energy pro-
duction
produce
waste products
but
these
are always
eliminated efficiently
unless there is liver
or
kidney failure.
The
liver
detoxifies
many potentially
toxic substances delivered to it
by
the
blood and
render
them
harmless.
The
kidneys
are
always
discharging
waste
products through dissolving them
in
the
urine.
The
gut
gets
rid of the food resi-
dues after digestion and decaying ma-
terial due
to
its normal inhabitant:
in-
testinal bacteria.
Even
the skin helps
by excreting some
waste
products dis-
solved in
the
sweat.
Unfortunately,
many of the health remedies claim of
"toxin elimination" are not proven at all;
the
worst
is
that some
of
these remedies
actually contain
toxic
substances
themselves! A healthy person drinking
adequate water, enough fruits and veg-
etables
and
passing
motions
regularly
would
never
need such remedies.
lf
you
suspect that your kidneys or
the
liver
are
not
working, lorget about these
rem-
edies and consult
the
doctor
immediately! Calcium
is
essential
to
the
bone,
teeth and
some other
tissues ol
the
body and
deficiency
may be found
in infants, young kids, pregnant women
and the
elderly.
The
best way to obtain
calcium
is
lrom calcium-rich food,
like
milk products
and
bean curd products,
etc.,
rather than
to
indulge blindly
on
calcium supplements.
