館《文津講壇》上去演講。是的，秦伯益的報告，針
砭時弊、鞭辟入裏、幽默深刻、妙語連珠，在科技、
教育、醫療和社會生活的多個領域，秦伯益都能坦
誠地發表自己獨特的見解。也有同志擔心秦伯益的
言詞太尖銳、太大膽，秦伯益回答說：“我相信群衆，
相信黨”。
在秦伯益的房間裏，對著陽臺，有一張書桌，書桌
上是一盞樸素的臺燈，秦伯益的臺燈總是這幢樓裏
熄得最遲的那一盞。書桌上方懸掛著的照片是秦伯
益在新疆沙漠中拍攝的三顆胡楊樹。入晚，孤燈下，
寒窗裏，歷經風雨滄桑而頑強不屈的胡楊樹，正與
默默寫作中的秦伯益進行著無聲的心靈交流。“科學
家的晚年，各有各的活法，沒有一定之規，只要適
合自己的情趣，自己覺得好就是好。如果還能有益
於社會，就更好”，秦伯益最後說。

“Be Ever Truthful, Even if One Can’t be Ever Youthful: an Interview with Gen. Qin Boyi:
Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering
In China, Gen. Qin Boyi is the only Academician who, at the age of 72, requested retirement. Born to a family with 900 years of literary
tradition, he was inspired by his father to be a “renowned” but not a “popular” physician. As the inaugural Director of the Institute
of Military Medical Sciences; the first batch of Academicians elected to the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Division of Medical
Sciences, he won prestigious awards for his research on neuro-psychiatric pharmacology. Non-conformal to the circle’s traditional
rules and regulations, he turned down many invitations for academic positions. He spent 10 years of his retirement travelling alone in
China and writing “Mei xi jiu zhou jing: Qin Boyi you ji”. Unlike travel guidebooks, this thesis had encyclopedic content on geography,
history and literary inputs, e.g., “The Beauty of Ruins”, “The Mysterious Puzzle”, “The Scenic Touring”, etc. With 2568 colour photos;
his thesis included China’s 40 world heritage sites, 22 world geological parks, 110 documented historical cultural towns and
22 “World’s Best” historical sites, all fully indexed. Academician Qin is a truly unique character!
