FASTING: A NEW SECRET FOR NOURISHING HEALTH
Apart from religion, fasting was advocated from ancient times; for a period, one abstains from high Calorie diets but water and fruit
juices: as we "live to eat", overeating is common. Theoretically, fasting for <40 days is not life-threatening; a recommended period
is 5 days for health and longevity - let our organs rest, get rid of unwanted fat with toxic substances we took in. Nevertheless,
fasting should be done under the supervision of your doctor: those with heart ailments, low blood sugar, diabetics and kidney
dysfunction, are not suitable. "Fruit juice fasting": freshly squeezed fruit juices; no bottled sodas, only water and a bowl of vegetable
soup without oil. The best timing is in summer; avoid cold winters. Before fasting, tune down the daily dietary intake for 1 to 2 days;
during fasting avoid taking tangerine or tomato juice or any juice with sugar added; best to take fresh apple, beetroot, Chinese
cabbage, carrot, celery, grape juices; if hungry, it is permissible to drink a soup (no oil) from carrots, celery, cucumber, cauliflower.
After fasting, allow 2 days for body adjustment before normal diet - try small amounts of vegetables & fruits first.
