THE "KNOW HOW" OF DRYNESS PREVENTION IN AUTUMN
As autumn has no more intense sunlight, our thickened cutin layer of the skin peels off. As the protective film becomes mildly
acidic but less strong, after washing, apply aqueous cream. Despite less sunlight, prolong exposure still lets the metabolism
down. The sebum is waxy, melts with heat but solidifies in winter; secretion also diminishes. Although windy climates draw away
our water, oily secretions increase to compensate; thus apparently oily skin may be a sign of lack of water and moisturizing is still
required. If dryness persists after re-moisturizing, the key is to use both oily and re-moisturizing preparations. Excessive moisturizing
night creams may close the skin pores and prevent skin respiration at sleep. Massaging the skin for around 10 minutes a day
enhances metabolism; relaxes skin and muscles. Drink adequate water; spray the skin or use humidifier. If required, use a more
oily cold cream. Optimal bath water is not warmer than 37oC; bathe for up to 20 min. Ensure adequate sleep and intake of bone
collagen, mucopolysaccharides, lecithin, vitamins, minerals, etc. For local dry skin, use preparations of chrysanthemum, lavender
and jasmine oil.
