Should the Staple Food of Diabetics be Mainly Oat Meal & Buckwheat?
Diabetics taking oat meal and buckwheat as staple diet is misery and one of the misconceptions: (1) Fruits are not taboo items: the
sweat taste comes from fructose that’s independent on insulin for metabolism: up to 200g of fruits may be taken between meals (2)
Although vegetable oils have abundant unsaturated fatty acids and comparing favorably with animal fat, they can’t be taken liberally:
all fats have high calorific values leading eventually to high blood sugar; limit intake to 20-25G/day (3) Despite insulin injections, one
can’t eat to one’s content: the amount of insulin injected is reckoned on a normal, regular diet rather than on overeating (4) Taking less
and less staple food is inappropriate: our brain needs adequate carbohydrates that comes mainly from staple food; lest our body would
burn fat for energy and the ketones in our body would increase (5) Unpolished grains can’t be taken liberally: whether polished or not,
grains are grains; the appropriate proportion of unpolished grain to staple food should be around 1/3 (6) Though not sugary, salted
food items, eg salted biscuits, potato chips, French fries, etc, can’t be taken liberally: all of these also have calorific values, especially
deep fried ones (7) Sugar reducing food items simply don’t exist, as all food items have calorific value!
