Instead of sweet, pleasant
and refined foods, "taking bitter",
e . g . , u n r e f i n e d f o o d s ,
grapefruits, tangerines, lemons,
bitter gourd, cabbage mustard,
etc., may eradicate the body's
excessive "heat". As modern liv-
ing consumes just a fraction of
the energy supplied from our
daily food intake, obesity results
- the concept of "excessive heat"
of traditional Chinese medicine.
As sweet drinks have even more
calories, tea is healthier, espe-
cially green tea that helps to

lesterol and prevent coronaries
as well as strokes. In fact, as
