WHAT
ON
EARTH
ARE
FAR
INFRARED FABRICS?
"Far infrared", an
invisible
light,
is
part and
partial
of
sunlight;
it
also has
the
longest
wavelength among infrared
rays.
However,
not
allfar
infrared rays
are beneficialto
human beings
-
only those
of
wavelengths 5.6
to
15
um are able
to
induce
a
reso-
nance and
warming effect,
im-
proving the
circulation;
massag-
ing
the skin cells; reducing
skin
aging and exerting a germicidal
effect.
Far infrared had
been
employed
as
a
homeopathy
method for
treating
rheumatoid
arth
ritis, lumbago, cervical verte-
bral
diseases and various
joint
pains,
etc. A
further
step
was to
impregnate far infrared emitting
ceramic
granules
to fabrics for
continuous effect
on
the
body.
As
granules
may
well detach
with
washing, an improved
method
was required. More recently,
it
was
feasible
to
incorporate nano-
sized "bio-ceramic" particles into
the
synthetic
fabrics,
e.9.,
polypropylene. The fiber
is then
stretched, twisted and made into
various forms for
various
usage.
As the
far
infrared particles
are
now inside the fibers, they would
no longer detach even
after
washing.
Most recently, carbon-
ized seaweeds are employed as
an
effective and
affordable
source of
far
infrared particles.
