THREATENS

The incidence rate of breast
cancer
in
China
is
30 per 100,000.
ln Guangzhou and Shenzhen, the
incidence
is
closest
to
this
figure.
According
to the Author,
the recent
increase
in
the
incidence rate
is
probably
related to
the devious use
of
female
hormones - these
may
be present
in
cosmetics that make
one look
"younger";
the
other
source is
hormonal replacement
therapyfor
menopausal women,
as
may
be
prescribed by
some
gynecologists. After taking
female
hormones,
bad
temper
is
better
controlled, osteoporosis
is
less
marked and even the
vagina
is
now
less
dry,
making
sex
life
more
enjoyable.
However, unwarranted
use of
these
hormones may be at
the
expense
of
increased breast
cancer incidence rates.
Even one
of
these advocates
of
attaining
youth looks
- a
renowned gyne-
cologist
in
a
well-established
hos-
pitalin
Shenzhen
had
unfoftunately
died
from
breast
cancer
herself.
The
message
is
to
have
regular
breast screening, e.9.,
mammo-
gram
that
can
detect
even tiny
can-
cerous spots
inside
the
breasts.
Remember, at
the
age
of
30-54,
breast
cancer
has become
the
"No.
1 killer"
-
early
detection
helps
a
lot,
as
95% of
early
breast
cancer
patients survive >10 years.
