SZUFENG ACUPOINT
FOR
TREATMENT
OF
INFANTILE
MALNUTRITION
lnfantile malnutrition
is a
common
ailment amongst young
children.
Prob-
ably because of improper feeding, poor
optimization of food and drinks, lack of
protein
and calories
as
well as
poor
digestion,
or
even
infection
afiecting
ad-
versely the
appetite,
infantile malnutri-
tion
results.
Acupuncture using
the
szufeng acupoint was remarkably effec-
tive for these
patients.
We have
em-
ployed
this
method
of
therapy
for
100+
patients who
were
also
followed
up
for
a
few
years.
Good
results
could
be
documented,
especially
for those
with
chronic
dianhoea
and poor digestion
-
usually, after
a few
times
of
acupunc-
ture at
the
Szufeng acupoint,
the
num-
ber
of
bowel movements decreased,
the stool became
normal
the appetite
was obviously
improved,
sleep
also
became
sounder.
Soon,
the
body
weight increases and the general vigor
also
improved.
According to laboratory
findings, after such acupuncture, the
acidity
of
the stomach secretion
obvi-
ously increased; secretion of the small
intestine
was
also
enhanced; the secre-
tion of all
kinds
ol
digestive
enzymes,
especially pancreatic enzymes for pro-
tein
digestion and other enzymes for
carbohydrates
and fat
digestion
are
also
obviously enhanced.
