HAVE GOT
DIABETES

It
all
started with
a
strangely good
appetite and thirst and soon, excessive
urine
was
passed.
One
day,
when
I
was
admitted to a hospital because of chest
infection, examination of
the
urine and
blood showed
that
I had got diabetes
and
this
was the cause of
the
recent
changes that
I
noted.
One
day,
I
was so
very
hungry from
the strict
diet control
that
I
had to
steal another
patient's
food.
On discovery of the theft, the patient
suddenly lost
his temper
and hit
me
hard.
I
felt so ashamed of myself
that
I
decided to swallow
the whole
bottle
of
sedatives. When I realized
that
I
was
dying, all the shame seemed
to
have
left me
and
I
regretted. Despite
my
self-
induced vomiting,
I
soon
fainted.
Even-
tually,
I
found mysell lucky enough to
be
saved.When
lwas
discharged,
I
met
the
holtempered
patient
saying
sorry
to me-his temper had improved consid-
erably with
the
control
of
his thyrotoxi-
cosis (excessive thyroid hormone se-
cretion)
and we even
became
very
good
friends
