HEART SURGERY
Surgical treatment has become
more
and
more
popularly
used
for
pa-
tients with various types of heart dis-
ease.
During the last quarter of cen-
tury cardiac surgeons have introduced
many procedures as treatment for
ischemic heart disease (lHD).
The
operative mortality
rate is
low. The most
impressive
result
ol the operation
is
the
relief of
symptoms, and
hence
the
im-
provement
in
the quality of
life
for the
patient
with
IHD including
angina
pectoris.
However,
a
post operative
schedule should
be
developed for each
patient
in order
to provide maximal suc-
cess
of
the
surgery.
General
body
con-
dition must
be
better maintained
if
the
patient is mobilized early in his conva-
lescence.
ln addition, as much rest as
possible with minimal frustration and
anxiety
is
also needed for successful
recovery
from
operation.
