NUTRITIONIST'S JOTTINGS ON A HEALTHY DIET
Prof Sun ShuZhi, a renowned first-generation Nutritionist, warns our "the good die young" from overwork and excessive dining
with clients. China is a close second to India having the world's highest diabetic rate. Only 15% of Chinese have perfect health
(physical and psychological, according to WHO definition); as another 15% have chronic diseases, 70% of us are in the sub-
health category! Unfortunately, simply taking health food does not help. Rather, one should control food intake: not just avoiding
contaminated food but also excessive restaurant food: far too oily and too high in Calories - the average oil consumption there is
84 gram per person, far higher than the recommended 25 gram per person. Middle age workers should realize only youngsters
can withstand over-exertion. Let us not be complacent: obesity is the "root of all evil" - hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes,
gout, coronaries, strokes, gall stones, fatty liver, cirrhosis of the liver, etc. Take life easy and have periodic systematic body
checks. Take regular physical exercises without over-exertion (may induce uneasiness); be optimistic; manage your anger. Mind
your diet!
