MOUNTAINEERING FOR HEALTH
Mountaineering: (1) Benefits the obese: energy is consumed for contracting muscles; circulation is enhanced; the lung capacity
increases, and generally tunes the metabolism (2) Helps to regulate mental and psychological imbalance - as one climbs up the
mountain, the changing and, at times, rather spectacular scenery would help to refresh oneself in a noble way that is hardly
feasible at ground level (3) Enhances our immunity - pleasant and unspoiled environments together with aromatic resins of trees
help to stimulate our brain cortex and even the endocrine secretions; as plants also have antibiotic properties, the environment
is cleaner; negative ions in the country side are "vitamins in the air"; adequate amounts of ultra-violet rays not only help the body
to generate more vitamin D to enhance calcium absorption but also enhance recovery of tuberculosis and bronchitis patients (4)
