As breast diseases belong to
women,
it
is
embarrassing
for
males
to
get such
"women's
diseases". Pathologically,
when
male breasts gradually develop to
be
similar
to
that
of a
woman's, the
condition
is
called "gynecomastia".
Although some medications,
e.9.,
anti-tuberculous drugs and
some
drugs
for
benign
prostate
enlargement,
do
have
such
side
effects, ironically,
in
the
male, get-
ting
breast cancer is mostly
be-
cause of a
very
masculine habit
-
drinking.
ln
fact,
male
breast
cancer, though very
rare, has
even
worse prognosis than the female
counterpart and should never
be
ignored.
According
to
a
UK
study,
lhose who drink excessively
have
a
15%
higher chance of develop-
ing
gynecomastia than the general
population.
As excessive
drinking
may
well cause liver dysfunction,
the
female hormone would then
be
metabolized less efficiently.
With
time,
female
hormone
accumulates
and gynecomastia
results.

the
breasts themselves,
just
like
their female
counterpart
-
feel for
any lumps and bumps that the en-
larged breasts may be
harboring.

all,
prevention
is
best

stop
drinking!
