Long
after
the
Chinese
had invented
the
compass,
Gilbert
(17th Century)
pro-
posed
the
Earth
was a giant
magnet;
studies on
the
Earth's
magnetosphere
began. Our body has positive
and
negative ions
that
are
subjected to
magnetic fields-
the principle of
magnetic
reso-
nance imaging.
An
intense
magnetic field enables body
cross-sectional
images.
We
are more and more shielded
from
the
Earth's
magnetic
field
by spending
progres-
sively
longer
times
in "shield-
ed
cages",
e.9., cars,
trains
and
concrete
buildings. Our
circulation thus lacks
natural
magnetism.
Moreover, the
Earth's magnetism is dimin-
ishing
atthe
rate of
0.05% per
year. ln
1961,
the
use of
mag-
netic necklace and handcuff
was approved for rheumatism
in Japan; infra-red
studies
showed their ability to
improve
circulation. The
scientific
basis:
Faraday's laws
on
magnetism were
employed
for
improving circulation,
just
like induction heaters heat by
inducing electric currents
in-
side metallic
pots.
The poten-
tial of
magnetic
therapy
is
great.
