The very toxic
bacterial
Botulinum toxin
can
rejuvenate
the
face
-
through
a
selective
and
precise
focal
paralysis
of
the
un-
derlying facial muscles. 60% of
people
interviewed
prefer
to
get
rid of
their wrinkles provided that
there
is no harm.
Only
10% said
no. Diluted
10
times,
Botulinum
toxin had
been
employed
medi-
cally. ln
the
US,
the Carruthers
incidentally found
that
Botulinum
toxin "A" also improved
frown
lines.
The
effect lasted
for
a few
months.
ln
2002,
the
FDA
ap-
proved this
treatment.
However,
side effects do occur, e.9.,
severe
headaches, drooping
eyelids,
lack of natural facial expression,
double vision and even allergy,
especially
after
repeated
injections, let alone several spe-
cial
categories of
patients who
just
cannot receive any
such
treatments. As initial screening
and subsequent supervision
by
doctors are
mandatory
its use
in
beauty parlors
is illegal.
Better
stay away from the toxin!
