AN INTACTVASE
LOSES
OUTTO
CHIPPED
POTTERY:
PERFECT HEALTH NOT SYNONYMOUS
WITH
LONGEVITY
Most of believe that those who have never been
ill
would live longer and vice versa.
The
reverse seems
true
-
it
seems that those with perfect health
may
succumb rapidly once stricken with disease.
On
the other
hand, those who have had illness after illness seem to be able
to
live
on and
on. ln
USA, one insurance firm
has
found
out
that, out
of
the
100
odd long survivors, the vast majority
of
them often became sick
in
the
past;
those enjoying perfect health tend to succumb with disease more
readily.
This finding has resulted
in
consid-
erable loss
of
insurance business as those
with
poor health
would
no longer be interested in life insurance.
We tend to care for a "chipped pottery" more
than an
intact vase
-
in
the
end,
the "chipped
pottery"
finally
lasts longer than
an
intact
vasel
Those often stricken
with
illnesses would
take
meticulous care
to
maintain
health whereas
those with perfect
health
could
not
care
less.
The worst
is
that,
even when
there
are early
signs of catastrophic diseases, e.9., stroke or cancer, they tend
to
ignore the signs, as they are already
convinced
of
their
unlikelihood
for
disease.
The morale
of
the story
is:
those with poor health need not
be
despaired
-
just continue
to
take the greatest care of your
health;
for those with perfect health, never
be
over-confident
-
you don't
have
the license
to
kill
your health.
lf
you wish
to
live
longer, remember
to
be
"prepared for
the
rainy days" despite bright sunshine
now!
