ELDERLY
ln modern
society,
management
of the elderly involves
due
respect to
these people
who
had contributed to
society
in
the
past.
The
society should
assist
them to
lead
as
normal
a
life as
feasible. This would also help
to
reflect
on the goodwill and caring attitude
of
the ever-progressive modern
society.
We aim
at
understanding
the
elderly
themselves and the various character-
istics of
their
common diseases;
to
consolidate
the
knowledge on specific
leatures
of
lunctional degeneration that
occurs naturally
in
the
elderly, e.9., vi-
sual deterioration, hearing impairment,
decrease
of
mobility
power, loss of
good
quality
and/or
quantity of sleep,
progres-
sive appetite loss, etc., etc. Based
on
all
these
knowledge, we should formu-
late
and
implement
various
policies
to
manage
these
specific deficiencies.
At
the same time, we should also take
a
good note at
the
healthcare of psycho-
logical aspects
of
the
elderly.
The
eld-
erly
are
often
prone to
the
psychologi-
cal
disturbances due
to
solitude,
loonies so
that their
relatives should
preferably have
the
required degree
ol
compassion and caring attitude. ln this
way,
the elderly would
be
able to
feel
the
kind of warmth and
consolation
required for
their
best quality of
life.
