THE ANTI.TUMOR AND
ANTI.VIRUS ACTIVITY
OF
POLYSACCHAROPEPTIDE
(PSP)
PSP has been proved to possess
both
antitumor
and anti-virus activities.
ln
vitro studies, PSP was able to inhibit
the
growth
of
human gastric cancer,
lung
cancer, lymphoma and leukemia
cells in different degrees depending on
length
of time and
dosage
concentration. PSP could also inhibit
the synthesis
of
RNA
and
DNA
in
Ehrlich ascitic
tumor
cells.
ln vitro studies,
PSP
was
also
proven to inhibit
5180
Sarcoma ascitic
cells and H238 sarcoma cells and slow
down
the
growth
of tumor.
Further
studies
demonstrate
that
PSP
possesses
anti-tumor and
inhibition
effects on
human nasopharyngeal
carcinoma, lung
adenocarcinoma,
Lewis lung cancer, and on human liver
cancer
cell line
HEPG2. PSP
can
improve the cytotoxic activity ol TIL on
melanoma cells, on human
peripheral
blood
lymphocytes (PBL), lung
cancer
and leukemia cells. Studies
of
PSP's
effect on respiratory synoytial virus
(RSV)
showed
that
PSP
could
effectively
inhibit the
toxic
action
of RSV
on human
nasopharyngeal
carcinoma
cell line (Hep-2).
