are both due
to
hardening of the arter-
ies of which prevention
is
through con-
trolling
high blood cholesterol. Avoid
high cholesterol food and take those
that can
lower blood cholesterol.
Persist in physical exercises regularly
to
"burn" away excessive body
fat.
Other
than
a good source of
energy,
body
fat
is
actually useful for maintain-
ing
the appropriate
body temperature.
For blood cholesterol level, the ideal
is
<200 mg and borderline,24O mg;
lor
high-density lipoprotein (HDL), 45 and
36;
for
low-density lipoprotein
(LDL),
130
and
160 mg; for triglycerides,
200
mg
is
the upper
limit.
The
ratio
between
HDL
and
LDL
is
more relevant.
By
transporting cholesterol
to
the
liver
for
disintegration, HDL
is
beneficial.
Limit
egg yolk, crabs, prawns, animal fat and
internal organs. Reducing intake
of
sugars
and fat
would
lower
triglycerides.
Green
tea, beans and
its
products,
leek,
mushrooms
and black fungus
are
beneficial; even onions can prevent the
deposit of cholesterol on arterial walls.
lnsist on regular physical exercises and
undergo health screening
go
a
long
way.
