Why Are There More Sudden Deaths During Sleep?
In 2005, the popular short film/TV star Gao Xiu Min died in his sleep at the age of 46. The White Paper on the Health of Urban White
Collar Workers in China found up to 80% had irregular living habits; felt tired; only 46% had occasional exercise; 23.7% omitted
breakfast; their biological age was 10 years higher than their actual age. Moreover, the average life span of intellectuals in China is 58;
the average life expectancy of Beijing intellectuals is 53.34: was 5.18 years longer 10 years ago. Usual causes of sudden death: cardio-
and cerebro- vascular diseases, especially coronaries: may well cause sudden death in a few minutes, especially if health is neglected,
e.g., high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, obesity, etc. During an attack, lie flat (sitting up reduces brain blood flow); loosen
collars; turn the head to one side (to prevent choking on vomiting); keep warm (to prevent artery constriction and platelet aggregation);
send to hospital soonest. As health is more important, ensure >6 hours of sleep; 4-5 exercise sessions per week. Developed countries
have long learned how to slow down the pace of living – it is high time that we learn from them!
