The Strategy for Nurturing Life in Autumn
Autumn is best for physical exercises: climbing hills appropriately strengthen the muscles and nerves; boosts circulation, lungs and
other organ functions, let alone the abundant negative ions and good scenery. Taking cold showers progressively helps our adaptation;
prevent cardio-vascular diseases and even boost our digestion but take it easy and warm up first; avoid when hungry or after a full
meal; not for those with hypertension, sciatica, urticaria, pruritus hiemalis (may aggravate these). Beware of catching a cold. Avoiding
being "rich and famous" would ironically make you happier. Blessed are those who give out rather than to grasp more and more.
Sunlight reduces our secretion of melatonin that makes us sleepy and depressed; it also suppresses other hormones. As those living
in rural regions live longer than city dwellers, why indulge in city nightlife for the apparent "enjoyments of life". Better take up sports
and recreation. For the elderly, appropriate withstanding the cold ironically strengthen our immunity. Rise early for some house chores,
taiji, strolling or even dancing, short trips, etc., to help circulation, joints muscles and organs. Don't forget a well-balanced diet and a
healthy lifestyle!
