USING THE COMPUTER:
THE CORRECT
HEALTHCARE STEPS
The
main
thing
about
comput-
ers is
the
monitor.
Although
you
have to "live with"
the
monitor,
it is
always possible
to
minimize the
harm done
to your
health. Small
amounts
of
radiation
are
being
emitted
from the
monitor. Those
monitors manufactured after 1996
would
have reduced
radiation
levels.
Keep
your
distance
of
around
7-8
cm. When working with
the computer,
the
room should be
reasonably
lit.
Too
dark
a
room
means too much contrast between
the
monitor and
the
room.
Remember, the monitor
is
actually
flickering
and
would
make the
eyes
easily tired.
For
those with
a
ten-
dency
for
seizures, extra
care
should
be
taken
as
too much flick-
ering
may precipitate
a
seizure
attack.
Pay attention to your
conect
sitting position, preferably
purchase
a purpose-built computer chair, lf
you
have headache
or
backache
after working with the computer
for
just an
hour, obviously
there
is
something
wrong
with
your
posture. At rest, massage from fin-
ger
tips
to the
forearm;
raise the
arms and exercise the fingers. Take
a 2-3 minute rest after working
for
half-an-hour.
lf
not, change
the
posture. Whenever not looking
at
the monitor, stare
at
the window or
other
objects.
Time permitting,
go
outdoors!
