STRENGTH

CHARACTERISTICS
OF
CHINESE
TRADITIONAL
MEDICINE
FOR
RHEUMATOID DISEASES
As rheumatoid diseases
are
often difficult
to
manage, there
seems to
be
a realistic
potential
for
traditional Chinese
medicine
(TCM)
to supplement
Western
medicine. The
Chief
Editor inter-
viewed
a
TCM
Physician
Gu
Mei-
hua,
in
charge of lmmunology
&
Rheumatology of First
Hospital,
Suzhou University. TCM
demands
continual treatment
-
very similar
to that of Western medicine for
rheumatoid arthritis, spondylosis,
xerosis, systemic lupus erythe-
matosis,
mixed
connective tissue
diseases,
Raynaud's syndrome,
polymyositis, scleroderma,
etc.
TCM would
also
treat the
"renal
system" related closely to bones
&
joints.
Physician Gu has
also
experienced the effectiveness of
Braintone
in 8
patients
with per-
sistent headache. The Braintone
capsule contains
these
ingred-
ients: Rhodiola sacra is
a
valu-
able herb that contains many
dif-
ferent kinds of glucosides, flav-
ones, amino acids and
trace
elements,
it has
anti-anoxia, anti-
fatigue and anti-aging propefties;
it
regulates the nerves. Gingko
is
well known for
its
action
on
cere-
bral circulation. Chuanxiong
re-
duces platelet aggregation
and
blood viscosity.
