ON GYMNASTICS:
EIGHT DISPUTABLE
STATEMENTS.
For
gymnastics, several apparently true state-
ments are actually disputable. (1) "Weight
lifting
would accumulate
fat":
Such
heavy
exercises when
done appropriately
and
regularly would actually
burn
fat
away effectively. (2) "The more sweating;
the
better
the effect
of
weight reduction": sweat
ac-
tually consists of water, salt and minerals;
it
has
nothing to do with weight or
calories
reduction.
(3)
"Warming up
exercises are
useless":
warming
up
exercises actually prepare well
the
muscles
and
even
the
heart to
prevent
injury
or
excessive strains
during
much more brisk exercises.
(4)
"With
exercise, eat
as
you
like": lt
is
far too easy to over-
eat as
the effect
of
exercise
is
much more gradual.
(5) "Belly
exercise gadgets
make
a perfect
belly":
Without
fat
or
calorie
reduction, these would
not
work. (6) "Super heavy weight lifting gives better
results": Excessive weights would
cause
more body
injury than good.
(7)
"On
stopping
gymnastics,
things
would get
even
worse": Only muscle
build-
ing
through weight lifting
may
slip away after stopping; beneficial effects
of
years
of
regular
exercises
will
stay. (8)
"Exercise one day;
rest
during the next": Exercise alternative muscles instead
of
tired muscle groups
but daily exercise should neveftheless go
on.
Above all, remember just
one
thing
-
that all physical exercises
must
be
undertaken in a
very
regular basis and this would certainly do
you
more good
than
harm.
