COMBINED
CANCER TREATMENT SPECIALIST
The Chief Editor had an enlightening interview with
Prof
Zhou YiJiang,
the
Hospital Executive
of
the
Clifford Hospital in
Panyu, China.
Although
in
the
19th Century,
the microscope first
saw
cancer cells,
our
concept
on
tumors dated
back
to
3,500
years ago.
Despite
different
names employed then
for the
modern
word "cancer", the time-honored experience is highly significant and
beneficialto
cancer patients. With mod-
ern medical technology on cancer management,
the
most appropriate is to combine traditional Chinese
medicine (TCM) management experience with Western medical technology. TCM is a multi-target,
multi-
faceted and comprehensive body conditioning method tailored specifically to
the
individual. Body resistance
and quality of
life
are both increased; side effects of radiation therapy and chemotherapy, decreased. With

years of experience
on
treating cancer,
Prof
Zhou has strived to
lead
the Clifford Hospital
to
tread
the
road of
experience
for
combination cancer treatment.
Prof
Zhou believes
in
simplicity
and a
balance
of body
functions,
not
just
killing the cancer cells
at all
costs. With
his
concept of "living with the cancer",
Prof
Zhou lets patients
take Western
and
TCM together, e.9., to treat cancers
of
the
liver; he believes that
there
is
no incompatibility
when prescribed appropriately. For late stages
of
liver
cancers,
he believes
in
giving
intra-venous injections
of
TCM
for
maximum effectiveness.
