FACTORS
AFFECTINGTHE
HEALTH OFTHE MALE
Various factors affect the
health
of
the
male.
Apart from inborn
factors
that nothing much can be done,
most
of
these factors are acquired and there-
fore largely
preventable, provided
that
we recognize them early enough.
As
social factors of severe competition
are
now
very
prevalent,
do
make it
a
point
to
relax properly; avoid accidents
by
being extra careful. Emotional lactors
are
highly relevant, e.9.,
prolonged
suppression, undue
pessimism or
excessive worrying would affect
hor-
mone
secretions and
affect
the
health
eventually. Even
the effect
of
weather
conditions
like
wind, cold,
heat, damp
and dryness on the health must not be
forgotten. Cultivate
a
good dietary
habit,
e.9., avoid overeating; having meals at
regular
intervals
is also
vital to
health;
maintain a well-balanced diet;
refrain
from smoking; maintain
a
good balance
between physical activity and
rest; have
regular life habits
-
even sexual life has
to
be
regulated,
as
too
much or
too
little
are both inappropriate for good health.
Above
all,
recognize
the signs of
poor
health, e.9., poor eyesight due to cata-
ract
or longsighted vision; scanty
hair
or
baldheadedness; bradycardia
or
heartbeat getting too slow; deafness or
deleriorating hearing; poor
lung
functions; obesity; diminishing
sexual
drive and even
frank
impotence. The
earlier
such defects
are
noticed, the
earlier and more eflective specific clini-
cal
managements can be instituted.
