ln China, lung cancer
kills
the most
amongst
all
cancers
of the
urban
population. ln general, the
high-risk
group is male above the age
of
45 who
has
a
"smoking
factor" (the
number of
cigarettes smoked
/
day
x
number of
years of smoking) of >400.
Passive
smoking
is also relevant but
more
difficult
to quantify.
ln Guangzhou, lung
cancer
is definitely
the number
1
killer
amongst all cancers. Early lung cancer
has
very
little
or
no symptoms
and
we
must never rely on such
for
early
detection of
lung
cancer. Nevedheless,
once there are signs
that
may suggest
lung cancer, e.9., cough
for
more than
two weeks,
blood
stained
phlegm
or
a
change in
the
character
of
chronic
cough, consult your doctor promptly
- it
may
still
be
curable
by
surgery or
a
combination of
chemotherapy
and
radiation
therapy.
Once
there

patient who had confirmed lung cancer
but who decided to engage
in
qigong
and certain traditional Chinese
herbal
medicine
for
treatment. After
5
months,
his lung cancer had already became
incurable. Currently,
recognized
modalities of
lung
cancer treatment
is
still limited to surgery, radiotherapy and
chemotherapy; all
other
modalities are
still considered
as
investigational.
