the 21st
Century
Since the 70's, medicine
has been
concerned
not only with
therapy
but
also
prevention and health promotion
as
well.
The discovery
of
Viagra for impotence
is
a
real
threal to andrology
of
traditional
Chinese medicine
(TCM).
This
also
demonstrates the power
of
the scientific
and "high tech" methods
of Western
medicine. Protection of normal subjects
f
rom
the effects of
environmental
pollution
is another challenge
to TCM
andrology. Moreover,
as
the male
is
often the sole
bread
winner, the
stress
is
tremendous,
not
to
mention the chal-
lenges from quacks and fake drugs of
that
Specialty.
The Specialty must strive
to modernize
so that
there
is
appropriate
input
from
modern technology.
As
quality
control of drugs
is
of paramount
importance, the Specialty should also
apply
modern
scientific
methods to
prove
the
safety,
ellectiveness
and
quality control
of
the drugs employed.
Efforts should also be made to introduce
the
latest technology, equipment and
personnel
to
enable
international
technology transfer and collaboration.
Training of competent prolessionals
in
the Specialty;
providing schools,
colleges and
refresher
/
advanced
courses for the specialty;
publishing
books and journals, etc.;
enhancing
computer
technology; auditing
of
diagnostic
criteria
&
treatment results
are
all
necessary
to
strengthen
the
Specialty.
