YOUR LIFE.STYLE
CAN
AFFECT BLOOD
CLOT
FORMATION
Blood clotting
in
the
arteries
(thrombosis) has profound effects
on
body function and can even be fatal.
There
is
a
rush to get drugs to prevent
such
blood clots. However,
in
the
daily
life, we can do a
lot
to reduce
such blood
clots.
Use olive or peanut
oil
for
cooking;
avoid using cocoa or coconut or
palm
oil. Weight reduction
is
imperative
but
should
be
done
at
the rate of 0.5
to
1
Kg per week. Avoid over-eating, espe-
cially sweet food stuff and drinks. Take
low
fat/
cholesterol food,
e.9., lean pork,
fish, white chicken meat, ham,
milk,
sea
cucumber and beans; avoid
animal
brains, egg yolk, internal organs, squid,
clams, etc.
However,
take some cho-
lesterol
-
it
is
essential
for
development
of
the
brain. Control you temper
and
reduce your pace
of
working, otherwise
blood adrenaline remains high,
the
heart is aflected and blood clots may
form.
Excessive
exercises
may also
pre-
dispose to easy blood clotting. ln the
elderly,
atherosclerosis (hardening) of
the
blood
vessels also
predisposes
to
blood
clot formation.
Refrain from
smoking,
as nicotine makes the
concen-
tration of cholesterol higher.
Even ex-
cessive alcohol reduces the blood
flow
to
the
brain
-
Moderation
is
the
key!
