Heredity may influence longevity
but is
not
the most
important.
Dental
surgeons
and
their spouses were found
to
have
very similar body chemistry and
the
longer these couples lived,
the
higher the similarity the
body
chemis-
try
-
changes to
environmental factors
affecting our body chemistry are much
more feasible than
that of
hereditary
ones.
There is no racial influence
on
longevity
-
the life
expectancy
of
Non-whites
in
the US
used
to be only
33.8 years
but
this
has
already become
64.6 years in
1967.
Genetic diflerence
of body physiology do exist, e.9., in
a
Canadian study, the Whites could clear
alcohol
in
the
body
faster than Eskimos.
As for frequency
of
diseases, there
is
only a diflerence
in
the incidence
rate
and
not
the
occurrence
of
diseases.
There are about 500 kinds of diseases
found at
birth
that
are attributable to
hereditary but only 20% are purely due
to
this
factor.
However, as heredity can
also confer to some of
us
smaller blood
vessels (and
more prone
to
blockage)
and a higher cholesterol level, be extra
careful on the prevention
ol
heart
diseases.
