CURE OF
CANCERS
At present, the highest success
of
cancer therapies hinges on detect-
ing the
cancer
early.
Early
rectal
cancers have a
cure
rate of 90% but
lor
advanced stages,
the
cure
rate
drops drastically
to
only
10%.
Unfortunately, the discovery
of
early
cancers
is
still very
ditficult.
There
is
now better
hope as
the gene of
rectal
cancer cells shed into
the
bowel can
be
detected
in
the stool
ol
early
stage
patients.
Unfortunately, such tests are
far
too expensive for screening
for
such
cancers amongst
the
normal
population. Nevertheless, scientists are
already
working
on the
discovery
of lung
and
bladder cancers
through
similar
examination of
the
phlegm and
the
urine.
Scientists have also discovered
several oncogenes, e.9.,
those
related
to
breast,
lung
and
blood
cancers. Such
discoveries would open a new door
for
the
possibility
of
manipulating the
oncogene
so
that cancer
cells
would no
longer be produced
in
the human body.
At present,
none of
the detail
method-
ology had
been
worked
out
yet.
Nevertheless, time will come and, the
current major problem
ol
cancer would
finally
be solved.
