MEDICINAL HERB
DIET
Hypertension
is
a common con-
dition which
has been
described
early
in
Traditional Chinese Medical
(TCM)
book "Huang-di Nai Jing"(Emperor
Huang's lnternal Classic-Cannon ol
Medicine)
in
ancient China.
Based on
TCM theory, patients with hypertension
can
be
classified
as
two
major clinical
subtypes: exuberance
of
Yang (vital
function) of the liver and deficiency Yin
(vital essence)
of
the kidney. When the
clinical evaluation
is
completed the next
step
is
to
prescrile herbs for
treatment
according to the above typing method,
i.e.,
subdue hyperactivity
of
the liver
and
tonify the
kidney
and
nourish its es-
sence. The present paper recommends
eight kinds of edible medicinal herbs as
a
dellcious diet with different cuisine
styles, which improve clinical manifes-
tation such as headache, dizziness,
in-
somnia, or tachycardia, etc., and
de-
crease blood pressure after
a
period of
time
ol treatment.
