Prostate specific antigen (PSA)
is
a single chain glycoprotein
of

KD
molecular weight consisting
of
237
amino acids
and
four carbohydrate side
chains.

exists
in
the secretion
and
epithelium
of prostate.
The
normal
value of serum PSA is 0-0. 4ug/1. At
present, PSA
is
considered
as
the most
important tumor marker for the diagno-
sis and clinical staging of prostate car-
cinoma
and
also an
effective
index
for
evaluating the reactive efficiency
of
endocrinotherapy and
radiotherapy,
and
lor
detecting
lhe
relapse
after
op-
eration.
PSA
has been used in
the
screening
ol
prostate carcinoma in Eu-
rope and the United States, the
posi-
tive
rate being 6.28%.
