PUZZLE ABOUT
THE
DEATH
OF
QIN.SHI
EMPEROR
Qin-shi Huang (Qin-shi Emperor)
is
the
first
emperor of China,
who
uni-
fied the China from
separated war-worn
kingdoms (called War Period) and was
the founder
of
Qin Dynasty
(from
BC.
221-2OO).
After
a long
journey from his
inland capital (Xi-an) to east coast of
China
for
praying his longevity and
con-
tinuity of his Qin kingdom, he died, on
the
way
back
home,
atthe
place
named
as Sha-qiu (means a group of dunes
around the area) where
is
now located
in south
of
He-bei
province. lt
is
not
clear yet about what the cause
ol
his
death
was.
Studies by
the
Chinese
history investigators and
evidences
showed that
the
earliest
Chinese
Em-
peror may died due to exhaustion and
tiredness after a
long
journey at
his
old
age.
However, disease
due
to
infec-
tions,
or severe psychological
terror
and
anxiety after
an
assassination
on
the way home are also highly
sus-
pected.
All
these possible causes of
his death are discussed
in
the present
paper without
a
final conclusion.
