Briefly,
the ovary
is
a specialized organ
ol

production, which serues and exocrine
gland to produce
and
liberates
gametes
for
fertilization.
lt
also
serves
as a
com-
plex
of endocrine gland which secretes
hormones responsible
for
both
the
growth and the cyclic function of repro-
ductive tract and
a
variety of metabolic
effects
in
nongenital
tissues.
Diseases
of
the ovary may
be
either endocrine
and non
endocrine.
On occasion, cer-
tain ovarian
neoplasms may occur.
