“Organic Food”: Absolutely Safe & Nutritious?
The requirements of "organic food" are strict: the soil be away from any pollution and heavy traffic but have clean natural irrigation;
no recent non-organic cultivation, etc. According to a Stanford University report, organic produce are not more nutritious. As no
food on Earth is absolutely safe, "Organic food" is being questioned: (1) Use of some of the natural pesticides still has some risks
(2) Theoretically, without pesticides, the plants may then produce more poisons to protect itself against pests (3) In theory, chemical
fertilizers are "cleaner" than natural fertilizers from human feces, animal manure and bird droppings, etc. – may have bacteria, parasite
ova, and even antibiotics in these organic fertilizers from excreta (4) Possibly, the "wound" of these organic plants left by pests may
eventually be infested by molds or fungi, with possibly more toxicities than non-organic vegetables. Above all, as there are those
cheats: non-organic food posing as "organic food", better take food well washed and cooked whenever feasible!
