Despite the standard of beauticians varies tremendously, there is no effective monitoring of their standards;
at worst, beauticians proficient only in makeup or non-invasive beauty techniques attempt various cosmetic
operations: a disaster. Yet, cosmetic surgery is always performed by well-qualified specialist doctors aiming
to achieve acceptable aesthetic features for a better quality of life despite unacceptable inborn defects or
acquired scarring: these patients have no “disease” but they still need the surgery. In a wider sense, medical
cosmesis may also be applied when there is a very strong urge to acquire a younger or a prettier look so
as to satisfy job or other requirements. Medical aesthetics contribute to medical cosmesis by: (1) In the
pursuit of medical human body aesthetics, the art and science of achieving a unified purpose: cosmesis (2)
Research on medical aesthetics would provide the basic theoretical background for cosmesis: all of these
serve at different angles to consolidate the implementation (especially clinical) of medical cosmesis: a boost
to the development of the specialty (3) Research on medical aesthesis has provided a special design skill
and a system of aesthetics appraisal towards the implementation of medical cosmoses (4) Promote the
development of medical cosmesis psychology as a new branch of medical cosmesis.
