INHERITANCE, SURPASSING
& INNOVATION: AN
INTERVIEWWITH PROF BO
ZHIYUN, INVENTOR OF
ABDOMINAL ACUPUNCTURE
The Chief Editor Mr. Fung
Kwong Chuen interviewed Prof Bo
Zhiyun who first discovered the ab-
dominal acupoints Qihai and
Guanyuan to be more effective than
classical acupoints. With further in-
depth studies and repeated clinical
testing, the internationally recog-
nized system of abdominal acupunc-
ture came in the late 1980s - fewer
acupoints, more consistent effec-
tiveness and less pain. Despite sev-
ering of babies' umbilical cords, me-
ridians remain - a "micro-system" of
our body akin to the standard me-
ridian system, a "tortoise hologram"
with all its parts corresponding to
our body. Although not a panacea
for all diseases, it is good for inter-
nally generated ailments and
damages, e.g., stroke, senile
dementia, coronaries, hypertension,
deafness due to thrombosis, fundal
bleeding of the eye, optic nerve neu-
ritis and degeneration, frozen
shoulder, sciatica, arthritis, neck and
back aches, numbness of legs. For
insomnia, anxiety, depression, etc.,
sedation of drug treatment can now
be avoided. Take care not to punc-
ture pregnant women or too deeply
into the abdominal cavity / organs.
Inheriting tradition, this innovation
probably surpasses the limits.
