TAKE
NOTE: THESE ARE
NOT ILLNESSES
When in leisure, we may
no-
tice
a
few
naturally
occuning
body
phenomenon and wonder if they
represent new diseases
-these
are
normal phenomenon:
(1) A
pulsat-
ing
"mass" over the tummy
is
actu-
ally
the
pulsations of the
body's
largest artery located
inside the
tummy
-
the
aorta,
the
pulsations
of which everyone
of
us can feel
over the tummy,
especially
in thin
persons (2) When lying on one's
side, one may be able to hear
one's
own pulsations inside
arteries
within the ear on the side
partly
covered
by
the
pillow:
normal be-
cause at other times, the sound of
the pulse
is being subdued by the
noisy surrounding (3) "nose-lung
reflex": when one
is
lying
on
the
side, one
may be
able
lo
breath
only with the nostril away from the
bed
"V
due
to the
lung nearer
to
the bed
being
"compressed"
by
the
mediastinum (between
the
two
lungs) and closure of the
nostril
near to
the bed occurs
by
reflex
(4)
When sitting cross-legged,
the
leg
above
seems
to
be
jerking "V
a
completely normal
phenomenon
due to
the
pulsation of a medium-
sized artery situated
at
the back of
the knee (5) Some male "patients"
complain about movement
of
their
scrotal
skin a
normal
phenomenon; nothing
to
worry
about.
