the
fingers,
making
full
use of the
pivot principle. lndeed,
a pair
of
chopsticks
is
a proud and com-
mendable piece
of
invention
in
human civilization
-
for over

000 years.
As
use of
chopsticks
requires appropriate
muscle
power strength and
good co-
ordination, excellent
nerve
con-
trol
from
the
brain
to
the
muscles
of
the
fingers
is
i
mperative. Moreover,
scientists
have found that
the
area of the
brain controlling the fingers
is
the
largest
of all
areas.
With
regular and frequent
move-
ments
of the
fingers,
good
stimulation
of
the relevant
brain
cells
results
and
mental devel-
opment
is
enhanced.
Thus,
young children should
learn
to
use chopsticks
as
early
as
feasible, say, at the
age
of
3.
Studies have also shown those
children
who
used chopsticks
early,
most of
them
have good
academic achievement
in
adult
life.
Nevertheless, children
walking
or
running with chop-
sticks
in
their mouth are
liable
to
injury!
