NEW CONCEPT
ON
ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY HOME DECORATION
ln
the
20th
Century, renovation for
a better
living home
environment
is prevalent. However,
the
harmful
effects
of
renovation are often ignored, especially as extensive renovation
may
contaminate the
air,
causing
harm
to our
health.
Construction material
may
emit, e.g.,
radiation
and harmful
gases.
Stringent
check for
radiation
levels
are mandatory. ln Europe, environmentally friendly construction material has already been
in
use for some decades. Pre-molded
windows
help
to
save
energy
but
would
reduce
the quality of
room air;
these windows
have
to
be
combined with,
e.g.,
computer-controlled air circulation
systems
to
improve the
quality
of
room
air.
Anti-bacterial materials
e.9.,
those containing copper
ions,
are preferred.
For painting,
water soluble natural mineral ingredients
are
preferred; so are
natural
resin paints.
For
furniture,
those
that
are
in line with
the
"green"
principle are preferred,
e.g.,
those made from natural materials that can satisfy the
end-users'requirements
and yet
are environmentally
friendly. Moreover,
safety aspects must not
be
forgotten,
e.9., ensure rigidity and sturdiness
but
avoid sharp edges and
corners.
Thus,
"green"
furniture observe these
principles:
emphasize on absent environmental contamination; harmonize with the surrounding
as
well
as
esthetic. Above all,
green
renovations and
furniture
would always have humans as the
top
priority.
