Tea
as
a
traditional beverage has
a
history
of five
thousand
years
in
China.
The
etfective constituent of
tea
for the
prevention
of
cancer
is
ployphenol. Polyphenol group is able
to
etfectively inhibite oxidation
and
superoxidation and block many oncog-
enous agents synthesized
in
the
body.
Tea contains
certain
amount
ol
selenium, zinc, vitamin
c,
D and €l
carotene. Selenium and zinc can
po-
tentiate
immunofunction. Vitamin
C,
D
and
€]
carotene can scavenge
free
radicals. The extracts of green tea sig-
nificantly
decrease
the
incidence
of
breast cancer
in
mice.
After
drinking
green tea, the antioxidation potential
of
human
plasma increase
rapidly.
Frequentlydrinking green tea
will
de-
crease the dangerous rate of
50o/o,
30-
4Oo/o,
407" and
2Oo/"
in
esophagus
carcinoma, stomach carcinoma,
pan-
creas carcinoma and
rectum
carcinoma
respectively. Four points for attention
in
drinking
tea
are
also
mentioned in
this
paper.
