PSYCHOLOGICAL ANALYSIS
OF CANCER PATIENTS
Acceptance of diagnosis
with
a
positive attitude and an
appropriate
trust would
help
considerably the fight
against
cancer.
The body
immune
system
is
enhanced. Others accept the
diagnosis with a pessimistic attitude:
they have indifference towards
theirfate
and doubt is
cast
on
the
treatment
given.
Seek help
from
appropriate
medical workers. Yet others have
a
suspicious attitude: they doubt
if
their
cancer is ever curable
or
if the treat-
ment is correct. They also attempt to
estimate their remaining
life
span
and
the
immune
system
is
depressed.
Those with far too strong
a
will
to
live
would
try
too
many "cures" and
get
all
the side-effects of unproven therapies.
A
refusal
to
accept
the diagnosis
of
cancer makes the individual unhappy
or
even angry.
Their
psychological
imbalance makes cancer treatment
very hectic and cure is more ditficult
to
achieve.
Those
who give up
hope
altogether would refuse any treatment.
Thus, maintenance
of
the best psycho-
logical attitude goes
a
long way
in
over-
coming cancer.
