Human
beings
have
a
brain with

billion cells and weighing
1.3
Kg.
At

of
the
body
weight,
it has
the
high-
est
proportion amongst
all
animals. The
brain surface (cortex) harbouring brain
cells
has
the
largest
area
among all
animals. The
brain
requires
much
blood
supply;
if
the heart
stops
beating for
only
5-20 seconds, dizziness results;
if
the
heart stops for 6 minutes,
the
brain
dies.
The
right
side ol the brain appears to
be
responsible
for
intelligence; certain
behaviour characteristics depend
on
which particular half of the brain
is
bet-
ter
developed.
Brain development
is
different according to sex from the age
of

months
-
the
male has better per-
ceptual and geometrical power and
fe-
male, language
power.
Females sel-
dom have speech defects at brain
in-
jury
because
of
the better connection
between the
two
brains.
Electroen-
cephalogram (EEG) reflects the
elec-
trical
activities of
the
brain
cells
and
certain brain pathologies have charac-
teristic
patterns.
Recently, mapping
and characterization
of
the
brain into
simple or complicated thought types,
conformal or creative
types,
relaxed
or
neryous types,
elc.,
are now feasible.
