Soyabean, the annual crop plant
of
the legume family, native to China
and Japan but widely grown
for
its
seeds, contains
much protein
and
oil,
especially high amount of unsaturated
fatty
acids are
found
in the oil compo-
nents.
This
type
of
fatty acids
has
been
found effective
in
reducing plasma cho-
lesterol and
is
the ideal lood
lor
pre-
vention of cardiovascular
diseases.
ln
addition, recent studies
has
found
that
soyabean contains much minerals and
trace elements which are
essential
to
maintain normal defense and immune,
and
anti-aging function
etc. Otherfunc-
tions
beneficial
to
normal health have
also been
reported
and are briefly
re-
viewed
in
the
paper.
